i got that japanese mag at kino b/c it came w/ a hello kitty vogue charm and those things are always wrapped in plastic, but i knew it would have a ton of fun hello kitty photos in it, which it did. aside from the surprise appearance by peter, there were also stories on colette and scott schuman from the sartorialist. but wait, it gets better...they had a whole thing on sex and the city and these special SATC coke cans w/ SJP on them. yup. here's the cell phone charm tho, using it as a regular necklace charm. i love fun surprises.

Me and the Indian cabbie

Coming back from Saks, we all took a cab from 5th ave. Of course, i ended up having to take the front seat. I open the door to find crumbsy seat cushion in a plushy velvet/ shitty velour in a red washed out color. Thinking I had to sit on that for at least 10 mins, i was thanking myself i wore a knee length coat, over a black dress and no stockings. Here we are driving down 5th, and the cabbie is on his cellphone speaking his language. Prabal, who lived in India for 3 years, was in the back seat extremely quietly. Meanwhile I am bitching about him changing lanes and slowing down at yellow stoplights. When we reach our destination, Prabal is cracking up; the cabbie didnt realize he could understand the language said " there is this girl sitting next to me in the front seat, her skin is so so white; oh crazy things happen to my body"

the film shows the inner workings of the marc jacobs machine, a place where few cameras are allowed to go. from new york to paris to toyko and back again. there's a lot of chair rolling and calling for joseph (his 2nd eye). marc's cut and paste technique is inspiring and as sophia coppola puts it, "creativity is mysterious."

some post-production animation adds to marc's already animated life. my favorite is when the narrator explains how louis vuitton legend speaks of fairies that haunt the house that LVMH made. a pink whoosh of sparkles fly by marc as he turns his head to follow, saying "the fairies are out."

marc is more artist struck than star struck. portrait artist, elizabeth peyton, one of marc's favorites compares artists to fashion designers, since "they both recreate their worlds." a short interview with murakami is a nice example of how art and fashion come together. to me its one in the same. ben's demi-god, scott of the sartorialist, said that the people he takes photos of treat their bodies like canvases. i completely agree.

i'm temping as the receptionist at a very fancy schmancy women's couture showroom and corporate/design office in the garment district. the building houses a ton of other fancy schmancy offices. celebs come in from time to time. here's a montage of what i do at "work."

sometimes its really slow. i won't get a call for half and hour. so i decided to bead a little. right now i'm working on a bracelet for my co-worker's niece. he already bought one for his daughter.

sometimes i do the crossword in any of the free morning papers. i use the thesaurus on my dashboard and google for emergencies only. i'm not a sudoku master, but i do have an arsenal of tricks up my sleeve.

usually i'll eat at my desk because i can eat and still be on the computer. plus, its friggin' cold outside. sitting at bryant park freezing, while eating lunch isn't appealing to me. bananas shouldn't be that big. very unnatural.

i read almost every single fashion magazine that comes through here, which equals to a lot of reading. i've been reprimanded for not "turning in" the magazines right away. i get $12/hr, throw me a friggin' bone here. or at least a friggin' skim thru the new french vogue.

often times i'm chatting online and managing my blogs. when i'm really desperate for some entertainment, i'll check out some of my myspace friend requests. the good, the bad, and the fugly.

so thats more or less the typical day. pay sucks, but with all the free time i explore what else is out there for me to do. i ask for stuff to do all the time, but right now i guess theres nothing much for me to do except enjoy the macbook pro while i can. everyones been telling me to stick it out. for how long? who knows? but i'll try to make the most of it.

a lot of times my little brother's friends will come to me for relationship advice, lately i feel like an unlicensed relationship adviser that could be screwing things up and right now i'm not the best person to be dishing this stuff out.

i'm not an expert, but i did read "he's just not that into you," so pseudo-technically i am.

what happens when you try to move out of the friend zone only to be left out in the cold? what happens when you don't feel the same way you used to inside and out?...

this morning we had a fire drill, everyone had to go out and stand by the elevators. they told us all the precautions to take in case of an emergency. we have two "searchers" who go through the office and make sure everyone is out and safe. how cute that they are the two halves of our one and only inter-office couple.

wouldn't that be nice? something shitty happens and theres a man with a clipboard going down a list of things you are supposed to do so that everyone is out and safe.

but there's no man with a clipboard. there's no list telling you the safe and right things to do for the rest of your life. you just have to get out there and do what you feel. like i told my brother's friend, it's 1-2-3-GO! just do it.
